Replacement parts can vary considerably in quality, price and availability. We’ll explain the sensible options for your device before anything is ordered.

WHY IT MATTERS

Not all replacement parts are the same.

Two parts made for the same device can differ in display quality, touch response, battery performance, fit, durability and price.

That’s why DSR doesn’t treat every replacement part as interchangeable.

Where more than one sensible option is available, we’ll explain the difference so you can choose what suits the device and your budget.

YOUR OPTIONS

Different parts for different repairs.

Brand-new genuine parts

Where available, brand-new genuine parts provide the closest match to the components originally fitted to the device.

For some repairs, particularly on newer or higher-end devices, this may be the option we recommend.

Pulled Grade A original parts

Pulled Grade A parts are genuine original manufacturer components removed from another device and graded for their condition.

They can be a useful option where a brand-new genuine part is unavailable or significantly more expensive, while still retaining an original manufacturer component.

Refurbished original parts

Refurbished original parts retain genuine original components that have been professionally restored for reuse.

Where a suitable refurbished original part is available, it can provide another alternative to buying a brand-new genuine part.

Aftermarket parts

Aftermarket parts are produced by third-party manufacturers and can vary significantly in quality.

Good-quality aftermarket parts can make sense for some repairs, particularly where keeping the cost proportionate to the value or age of the device matters.

DSR avoids treating the cheapest available part as the default choice.

We recommend what makes sense for the device.

Device

The age, model and value of the device all affect which replacement options are sensible.

Part quality

Where different grades are available, we consider the quality and suitability of the part rather than price alone.

Availability

Not every manufacturer makes genuine parts freely available for every repair, so the realistic options vary by device.

Value

Sometimes the most expensive part is the right choice. Sometimes a good-quality alternative makes more sense.

HIGHER-END DEVICES

Some devices deserve a different approach.

On newer or higher-end devices, the difference between part options can be more noticeable.

Where we believe a brand-new genuine, pulled Grade A original or refurbished original part is the better choice, we’ll say so rather than recommending a cheaper option simply to produce the lowest quote.

Likewise, if a good-quality aftermarket part is a sensible choice for the device, we’ll explain that too.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Battery quality matters too.

Replacement batteries also vary in quality.

Where genuine batteries are available and make sense for the device, they may be offered or recommended. For other devices, DSR uses carefully selected aftermarket replacements rather than simply choosing the lowest-priced option.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Clear options before anything is ordered.

Part type

We’ll tell you what type of replacement part is being offered where there is a meaningful choice.

Price

You’ll know the agreed repair price before the part is ordered.

Approval

If the repair later needs to go beyond what was originally agreed, we’ll explain why and get your approval before any additional work is carried out.

REPAIR WARRANTY

90-day repair warranty

DSR provides a 90-day warranty beginning on the date the repaired device is returned to the customer.

The warranty applies only to the specific repair carried out by DSR and the replacement part fitted by DSR as part of that repair.

It does not cover new physical or accidental damage, liquid damage, misuse, software-related issues, unrelated faults, failure of other components, or damage caused by subsequent repair attempts, modification, disassembly or work carried out by another repair provider.
