1. About Dorset Smartphone Repairs
Dorset Smartphone Repairs (“we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by Steven Lanes as a sole trader in the United Kingdom. By booking or completing a repair, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
2. Booking Policy
All repairs are carried out strictly by appointment. The booking system will show the soonest available repair date based on parts availability and workload.
- Repair slots are provisional until parts are confirmed in stock.
- Customers may reschedule or cancel online using their secure manage-booking link.
- To protect fairness, online changes are disabled within 24 hours of the appointment.
3. Parts and Workmanship
We use a combination of OEM, service-pack, and high-quality aftermarket parts depending on availability. You will be informed of the part type and price before any repair is started.
All repairs are carried out professionally and with appropriate tools and equipment.
4. Pre-Repair Internal Photography
To ensure transparency and protect both parties, Dorset Smartphone Repairs will take internal photos of your device once it is opened. These images are used solely to:
- Document the device’s internal condition before any work begins
- Record missing screws, non-original parts, corrosion, or signs of previous repair
- Identify defects caused by prior technicians or DIY work
- Evidence disputes where internal damage existed before our repair
Photos are stored securely and retained for up to 12 months unless required for warranty or dispute resolution.
5. Payments
Payment for parts is required upfront to secure an order. Labour is payable on collection, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Devices will not be released until the balance has been paid in full.
6. Warranty
Most repairs include a 90-day warranty covering defects in parts or workmanship. This warranty does not cover:
- Accidental / physical / liquid damage after the repair
- Damage caused by previous repairs or tampering
- Damage caused by removing screen protectors, cases, adhesives or third-party accessories
- Issues unrelated to the specific repair completed
- Battery degradation through normal use
- Any software, data or personal content
7. Liability
We are not responsible for:
- Loss of data—customers must back up devices before repair
- Further faults caused by existing damage or wear
- Failure caused by unrelated components (e.g., board-level damage)
8. Device Collection, Return & Storage
Repairs are strictly appointment-only. For insurance and safety reasons, customers cannot wait inside the premises.
Finished repairs not collected within 30 days may incur storage fees. After 90 days, devices may be recycled or sold to recover costs, as permitted under UK law.
9. Online Contact Form
If you use our website contact form, the details you submit (name, email, mobile, device information, message) are emailed securely only to Dorset Smartphone Repairs. These details are not stored in a database.
10. Booking System & Data Handling
When you book a repair using the website, the booking system securely stores:
- Name
- Email address
- Mobile number
- Preferred contact method
- Device details (brand, model, platform, issue)
- Appointment date and time
- Booking notes added by you
A secure, time-limited manage-booking link is generated so you can:
- Reschedule your appointment
- Cancel your appointment
- Update your notes
- Change your preferred contact method
This link never exposes your personal data publicly and expires automatically to protect privacy.
11. Records and Accounting
We are legally required to maintain accurate business records. Basic customer details (name, contact information, device model and repair type) may appear on invoices, receipts or job logs. These records are stored securely and retained for up to 6 years as required by HMRC.
12. Device Abandonment
If a device is left uncollected for over 90 days, despite reasonable attempts to contact you, it will be considered abandoned. We reserve the right to dispose of or sell the device to recover costs.
13. Agreement
By booking a repair online or signing the Repair Authorisation form, you confirm you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
